Ty Ellis, better known online as Deadlox, is a popular YouTuber, gamer, and content creator who gained widespread recognition through his entertaining gaming videos, particularly those centered on Minecraft. Born as Tyler Warren Ellis, he was known for having a calm and easygoing personality from an early age, a trait that has remained part of his public image. Ellis developed an interest in gaming during his school years after playing a computer game with his friend Asus. His passion for gaming eventually led him to collaborate with SkyDoesMinecraft (Sky) and join a group of Minecraft content creators. Encouraged by Sky, Ellis launched his own YouTube channel, Deadlox MC, where he began uploading Minecraft-related content. Although his channel initially experienced slow growth, his popularity increased dramatically after he started posting videos on a daily basis. His engaging personality, consistent uploads, and entertaining gameplay attracted a large audience, helping him establish himself as one of YouTube’s well-known gaming creators. Over time, his main channel surpassed two million subscribers, while his secondary gaming channel, DeadloxVSGaming, also built a loyal following with nearly 200,000 subscribers, cementing his place among the platform’s prominent gaming personalities.
Rise to Stardom
Known online as Deadlox, Ty Ellis became one of YouTube’s most recognized gaming creators through his entertaining gameplay and engaging personality. His interest in video games began during childhood when his close friend, Asus, introduced him to the online game RuneScape. The two spent countless hours playing together, laying the foundation for Ellis’s future career in gaming.
Following his parents’ divorce, Ellis lived with his father, who provided both emotional encouragement and financial support as he pursued his passion. After joining YouTube in 2008, Ellis initially watched and created RuneScape-related content. During this period, he met fellow YouTuber SkyDoesMinecraft (Sky), and the pair collaborated on gaming videos. Encouraged by Sky, Ellis launched his own YouTube channel, DeadloxMC. After completing his freshman year of school, he decided to leave formal education to focus full-time on building his YouTube career.
Ellis later co-founded a group of Minecraft creators known as Team Crafted, which was eventually renamed Vision Squad. In the beginning, his channel primarily featured Minecraft gameplay and had only around 2,000 subscribers. His popularity increased rapidly after he expanded his content to include daily vlogs, comedy skits, Try Not To Laugh challenges, and prank videos. His subscriber count soon surpassed 100,000, eventually growing beyond one million. At its peak, DeadloxMC attracted approximately 2.1 million subscribers, whom Ellis affectionately referred to as his “Dead Army.” One of his most popular uploads was “Minecraft Epic Jump Map – Operation Tropical Vacation Part 1.”
Building on the success of his main channel, Ellis launched a second YouTube channel called DeadloxVSGaming, where he uploaded gaming videos outside the Minecraft genre. The channel also gained a loyal audience and grew to more than 190,000 subscribers.
Ellis later stopped regularly uploading content to DeadloxMC after YouTube removed several of his videos. In a video posted on his gaming channel, he explained that he had deleted much of his viral content and entered into a partnership with a company to help manage future uploads on the channel.
Beyond YouTube, Ellis has maintained a strong presence across several social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter (X), Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitch, where he continued interacting with fans and sharing gaming-related content.
Family & Personal Life
Ty Ellis was born as Tyler “Ty” Warren Ellis on April 17, 1996, in Tucson, Arizona, USA, to Monika and Tony Ellis. He grew up with his older sister, Munick, and the family’s pet dog, Paddy.
During his early childhood, the family lived in a modest home before moving to a better neighborhood when Tyler was around five years old. His school years were challenging, as he was bullied in kindergarten, causing him to miss classes frequently. As a result, he completed kindergarten a year later than many of his classmates.
While growing up, Ellis became close friends with Asus, who introduced him to computer gaming—a hobby that would eventually shape his career. His teenage years were marked by both academic and personal difficulties. After middle school, he struggled academically, failed to advance directly to high school, and completed his studies through summer school.
When Ellis was 14 years old, his parents divorced, after which he spent much of his time living with his father, who remained a constant source of support throughout his early career.
In his personal life, Ellis began dating Jocelyn in early 2013. The couple welcomed their daughter, Lyla, in 2016, marking a new chapter in his life as both a content creator and a father.
