American pop singer Avery Winter first gained notoriety when she appeared on Season 6 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” with the group “Avery and the Calico Hearts.” She registered to participate in the pan-American singing competition when she was just 9 years old. Avery first met Kassidy King and Brooklyn Elbert, the other two members of the trio, at the Cactus Theater in Lubbock, Texas, years before the audition. The Avery and the Calico Hearts group was formed after the three young children who were less than five years old became friends with one another. They frequently played together in front of crowds that frequently included up to 80,000 fans, not only at Cactus Theater but also elsewhere in West Texas. The young people made a commitment to remain a singing group, but six years later, when Avery and her family moved from Lubbock to Dallas, they broke up. Kassidy and Brooklyn kept giving excellent performances together. Avery Winter now plays as a soloist and focuses mostly on country songs. Her most well-known rendition is Jessie J’s “Mamma Knows Best.”

Avery’s Early Years

The Texas county capital of Lubbock County, Avery Winter was born and raised in Lubbock. She started singing when she was only 4 years old as if it were an innate talent. When she was too young to enroll in kindergarten, her singing career began at the Cactus Theater in Lubbock in 2006.

Before taking the stage in front of a live audience, Avery received singing instruction at the theater. She also worked on her yodeling, and by the time she was six, she was an accomplished performer.

She made friends with Brooklyn Elbert and Kassidy King, two other young vocalists at the Cactus Theater, while she was on stage there. The three young people came together to establish the ensemble “Avery and the Calico Hearts,” which began playing regularly at Cactus and other venues in West Texas.

The kids got along well, spending their free time hanging out and going shopping together. They stated a wish to embark on an international concert tour and meet Justin Bieber, a Canadian musician.

Avery’s Increased Fame

Avery and the Calico Hearts appeared for the 2011’s 610th episode of “America’s Got Talent” auditions at the NBC studios. The group was instructed to play Justin Bieber’s song “Baby” live. Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne both cast “yes” votes, but one of the celebrity panelists, Piers Morgan, abstained.

Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne both voted “yes,” sending the quartet to the Las Vegas venue for the next round. Each act that received enough votes to appear in the Vegas Round was divided into one of three categories. Avery’s group, which was listed under the “Standby Acts” category, was placed in the “Kid Acts” category.

In episode 612, “It’s Your Thing,” Avery and the Calico Hearts were requested to perform a cover of the song. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the sixth season of “America’s Got Talent,” which was held in Hollywood from July 12 to August 17, 2011, thanks to an incredibly strong performance.

The trio performed “I Wish” in the quarterfinals, but they didn’t receive enough votes for any of the top five acts to advance to the semifinals. The 620th episode of America’s Got Talent saw Avery and the Calico Hearts ousted from the singing competition as a result.

By selecting them as the winner of the “Wild Card” round, Sharon Osborne provided the group with a lifeline. The team had to cover Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” for the 623rd episode. However, Piers Morgan didn’t like what they did, which ended their chances of moving on to the next round.

Avery and the Calico Hearts were permanently eliminated from Season 6 of America’s Got Talent after being eliminated from the Wild Card competition. Avery, Brooklyn, and Kassidy shared the stage at “The Maury’s Mini Idols Show” in January 2012, however, they soon parted ways.

The group was disbanded as a result of Avery moving to Dallas with her parents, but Brooklyn and Kassidy are still active as a duo.
