Huey Percy is a fictional character created by Huey Percy Newton was a revolutionary political activist who, along with Bobby Seale, co-founded the Black Panther Party. Newton’s interest in radical politics stemmed from his father’s involvement with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP); in fact, he was named after former Louisiana governor Huey Long, a radical politician. He was poor as a child and was frequently the subject of racial discrimination, which he despised. He was never taught anything of significance despite attending many public schools, forcing him to self-educate. By the time he was a teenager, he had already had run-ins with the authorities. While in college, he became active in politics and met Bobby Seale. The Black Panther Party was founded by the two men with the goal of protecting the black community from racist violence and police brutality. The party quickly grew in popularity, with members in a number of locations around the United States. Newton believed in using violence to attain his goals, and the FBI quickly labeled the party as a national security concern. Newton’s life got further enmeshed in a cycle of drugs and violence, and he frequently clashed with the Black Guerilla Family (BGF), finally leading to his assassination by a BGF member.

Childhood and Adolescence

Walter Newton and Armelia Johnson have a son named Huey Newton. Among the seven siblings, he was the youngest. His father belonged to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) (NAACP). Despite their poverty, the family was very close.

He grew raised in Oakland, where racial persecution was endemic.
He went to Oakland Technical High School, but no teacher there ever sought to create a hunger for study in him, and he graduated in 1959 with no actual education.

Unfazed, he began a journey of self-education by teaching himself to read.
As a teenager, he began committing little crimes and was arrested numerous times.

He enrolled in Merritt College, where he became involved in politics and joined the Afro-American Association. He was an avid reader who affected his political views by reading books by Karl Marx, Malcolm X, Vladimir Lenin, and others.

Years Later of Huey P. Newton

In October 1966, Newton and a Merritt College classmate, Bobby Seale, founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. Seale was appointed Chairman, while Newton was appointed Minister of Defense.

The party was created with the goal of safeguarding black people from racial discrimination and police violence, and it quickly gained a national support.

The Black Panthers were intimately associated with the Black Power movement, which aimed to promote black people’s political and cultural interests. During the 1960s and 1970s, this movement was immensely popular.

The publication of the organization’s official newspaper, ‘The Black Panther,’ began in 1967.
The party grew in popularity as a result of the causes it championed, and by 1968, it had spread to cities across the United States such as Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and others. By 1969, the party had grown to over 10,000 members.

The group created a ten-point program outlining their goals for freedom from cruelty, education, housing, food security, and peace. This paper outlined the party’s social and political goals.

The Black Panthers, led by Newton, launched a number of social programs aimed at improving the lives of black people. The opening of educational institutions, food security programs, and martial arts instruction for teenagers were among the initiatives.
In 1973, Newton published his memoirs, “Revolutionary Suicide.”

However, in the late 1970s, the group’s reputation began to diminish as a result of their violent and militant acts, which had begun to eclipse their social and political goals. Several disillusioned members quit the party, and by 1980, it had shrunk to just 27 members.

Newton acquired a drug addiction and began paying for his narcotics with state funding intended for the Panther-sponsored school. In 1982, he was charged with embezzlement, and the party disbanded.

Newton was involved in a number of illegal and criminal activities, including the assassination of police officer John Frey. He had also been convicted and imprisoned on counts of unlawful guns possession.
