In 2014, she joined the boards of directors of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. She and her twin brother, Akash, launched the Jio 4G services to company employees in December 2015, before of a full-fledged commercial launch, in front of brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan and Academy Award-winning musician A. R. Rahman, who performed at the occasion. Forbes placed her on their list of ‘Asia’s Power Businesswomen, 2015: 12 To Watch’ again that year. She launched the online fashion boutique AJIO, a division of Reliance Retail operated by her, at the 2016 Lakme Fashion Week.
The Ascension to Stardom
Isha Ambani, who proceeded to Yale University for further studies, returned and complained to her father about the poor internet connection in the house. While she relied heavily on the internet to complete a wide range of duties, she was unable to complete any of them properly at home. As a result, her father decided to enter the telecommunications industry and develop the game-changing Jio 4G-LTE connection. Since the company’s inception, Isha and her brother Akash have been heavily involved.
She began working as a business analyst for management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in 2014, after completing her undergraduate degree at Yale. She took advantage of the opportunity to work for a multinational firm as a warm-up for her future career in her father’s company. She and her twin brother Akash were appointed into the board of directors of two Reliance Group companies, Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail, later that year, at the age of 22. In July 2017, she and Akash made their debut in front of RIL shareholders, unveiling the 4G-enabled JioPhone device and giving a live demonstration of it.
Isha Ambani’s Unique Qualities
Isha Ambani, who was born into one of India’s wealthiest families, knew as a child that she would have to take over her father’s firm someday. Her father, treated her as a partner in his firm from early on, instead of treating her as an intern, which helped her build confidence and take decisions. She aspired to actively participate in her father’s business, according to close sources, and was particularly interested in the conglomerate’s environmental efforts.
Isha, who is well conscious of her privileged upbringing, frequently devotes herself to the welfare of the less fortunate. She stepped into her mother’s shoes and played Santa’s merriest elf to disadvantaged Mumbai youngsters at the Hamley’s toy store in Lower Parel during Christmas in 2014.
Controversies of Isha Ambani
While Isha Ambani chooses to maintain a low profile the majority of the time, she, like many other celebrities before her, has been the victim of fake news, rumors, and identity theft on several occasions. In May 2015, a Facebook account known as ‘iamishaambani’ appeared on the site, with photographs of a Lamborghini Aventador present and promises of iPhone goodies in celebration of the Mumbai Indians’ victory. However, the account was ultimately shown to be a hoax.
Similarly, in October 2016, word got around that Isha was getting married the following month. However, a Reliance spokesperson confirmed that the announcement was a scam, and that her relative was genuinely getting married that month. JioFiber, Jio’s broadband service, will offer 100GB bandwidth with 1gbps speed for Rs 500 in 100 cities before Diwali, according to a Twitter user posing as Isha in August 2017. The account was eventually discovered to be fraudulent.
