She was born and reared in New York, where she began her acting studies while still a high school student and actively took part in plays and musical theater productions. She appeared in many movies during the next years, including “Broken Flowers,” “Sex and Breakfast,” and “Tenderness.” She hasn’t been as frequently on TV and has always been quite selective about the parts she takes on. Her TV roles on the shows “Law & Order,” “Invasion,” and “Entourage” include some of the most well-known.

Early Childhood & Life

On July 8, 1984, Alexis Dziena was born in New York. From early on, she had a tendency for the performing arts. Her parents’ support was very important in helping her develop an interest in performing. She had been taking piano and cello lessons by the time she was three years old.
She enjoyed playing the piano and in the fifth grade she began acting. After completing her early education at “Saint Ann’s School,” she enrolled at “American Academy of Dramatic Arts,” where she received acting instruction from industry professionals.

She not only performed in plays but also wrote a number of one-act plays for the academy. After graduating from high school, she spent some time studying acting at the prestigious “New York University” (NYU). She made a couple of short films and participated in a number of “Off-Broadway” productions while she was a student at NYU.

When she was 18, she had already begun to get acting opportunities. She had one of her first appearances with her then-boyfriend, actor Michael Pitt, in the music video for Joey Ramone’s song “What a Wonderful World.”

Her difficult period did not continue very long since she met Lori Eastside, a casting director, and it resulted in a huge success for her. They grew close, and Lori gradually saw Alexis’ considerable potential. After that, Alexis received a role offer for the movie “Bringing Rain.” Although it was one of Alexis’s first film deals, she had already been acting in TV shows and movies before the movie even came out.

The career of Alexis Dziena

In 2002, Alexis made an appearance in the “Witchblade” episode “Parabolic.” It played a minor part. She went on to make her film debut in 2003 with a second small part in the independent movie “Seasons of Youth” as a result of this. She added four more movies to her filmography that year: “Mimic 3: Sentinel,” “Bringing Rain,” “Rhinoceros Eyes,” and “Wonderland.”

Although her part in “Wonderland” was cut from the final cut of the movie, by that point she had already established herself as a promising young performer. She also had a few brief TV parts in the law enforcement series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Law & Order” in 2003.

She had an appearance in the 2004 television movie “She’s Too Young.” She portrayed the principal character in the movie, a 14-year-old girl who enjoys sex and drugs. She starred in the comedy “Strangers with Candy” in 2005, which received mixed reviews but did rather well at the box office.
The next movie she starred in was the TV crime drama “Stone Cold,” in which Alexis played a rape victim. This was a significant supporting part. Both critics and viewers gave the movie favorable reviews. Also lauded were the performances.

In 2005, she resumed her streak of success with the French-American comedy-drama “Broken Flowers,” which starred Bill Murray in the title role. The movie received overwhelmingly positive reviews and took home the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. At the box office, it didn’t make much of an impact.
She continued on to play a key role in the low-budget independent film “Pizza” before wrapping out her hectic year in 2005 with the crime drama “Havoc,” which starred Anne Hathaway.

In 2005, her TV career also flourished. She made her debut on television in two episodes of the drama “Joan of Arcadia,” and then she played a significant role in the science fiction program “Invasion.” The movie “Invasion” earned a ton of positive reviews, and Alexis’ portrayal of “Kira Underlay” was well-liked.
She took a break in 2006, and with the independent dark comedy “Sex and Breakfast,” she returned to the big screen. She portrayed the part of a sexually charged young woman with relationship problems opposite Macaulay Culkin in the movie. She appeared in a single episode of the soap opera “One Life to Live” that same year.

She portrayed one of the main characters in the 2008 movie Fool’s Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. Alexis was disappointed by the film’s lackluster reception from critics and audiences. In the same year, she also had a major role in the romantic comedy-drama “Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” in which she portrayed Nick’s unfaithful ex-girlfriend.

A significant recurring part in the popular comedy-drama series “Entourage” was secured by Alexis in 2009. Alexis was one of many Hollywood stars who made up the cast of the show, which followed the daily lives of Hollywood celebrities. Additionally, it was her final TV job.

She made her cinematic debut in the multi-starrer “Tenderness” the same year, and the year after that, she starred in “When in Rome.” She portrayed the sister of the main character in the latter.
She took a big chance in 2012 when she signed on to star in the bizarre comedy-drama movie “Wrong.”

It was an independent movie that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and was also a part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s official selections.
Her acting career quickly came to an end. She has only acted in two independent movies since “Wrong,” namely “Sister” and “Without Ward.”
