Chris Parnell is an actor, comedian, and voice artist from the United States. He rose to fame as a cast member of the television show “Saturday Night Live,” which he joined in 1998. Apart from his humorous recurring role as Dr. Leo Spaceman on ’30 Rock,’ he also voiced Cyril Figgis on the animated spy parody series ‘Archer.’ He worked on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons and has the distinction of being fired twice! Childhood and Adolescence

Thomas Christopher Parnell was born on February 5, 1967, to a Southern Baptist family in Memphis, Tennessee.
He studied acting and auditioned for productions at Germantown High School, where he graduated. He performed in the Poplar Pike Playhouse at his high school.

His classmates in Germantown voted him “Most Talented” in 1985 when he was a senior. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem with a BFA in Drama.

He went on to perform with the Berkshire Theatre and the Alley Theatre after graduating. He immediately returned to his hometown and began teaching acting and film at his old Germantown high school.

He left his teaching career and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for acting. He got a job at FAO Schwartz there and eventually rose to the position of Operations Manager. He began taking classes at The Groundlings Main Company around this time as well.

Chris Parnell had been a member of The Groundlings for a few years when he was spotted by talent scouts seeking actors for ‘Saturday Night Live.’ He flew to New York for an audition and was quickly hired as a featured player.

Chris Parnell debuted as a featured player on ‘Saturday Night Live’ on September 26, 1998. In his second season, he was promoted to a repertory player. He was fired from SNL in 2001, having just completed his third season, due to budget cuts.

After cast members Will Ferell and Chris Kattan, as well as a writer, persuaded show producer Lorne Michaels to recruit him back midway through the next season, he was hired back to the program. Chris Parnell is most known for his eight seasons on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ during which he played a variety of roles in sketches, parodies, and impersonations, including George W. Bush. For his ability to not break during a drawing, he was dubbed “The Ice Man.”
