David Parker Ray, also known as the ‘Toy-Box murderer,’ was a suspected serial murderer, serial rapist, and torturer of women. On the basis of accusations made by his accomplices, it is believed that he murdered at least 60 individuals, but no bodies were ever discovered. He was born in New Mexico’s Belen. His violent and alcoholic father provided him with pornographic magazines depicting sadomasochism. This may have been one of the reasons he fantasized about raping and killing women. David Parker Ray was born in Belen, New Mexico, on November 6, 1939. He was born to Cecil and Nettie Ray. Cynthia Vigil was tortured with canes, medical instruments, electronic shocks, and sexual implements. Ray also played a cassette tape containing information about what she would experience. Three days of sexual assault and torment ensued. On the third day, while Ray was at work, his fiancée accidentally placed the keys to Vigil’s restraints on a table before leaving the room. While donning an iron slave collar and padlocked chains, Vigil ran down the road until a homeowner took her in. Parker and his accomplices were apprehended after calling the police. When word of Parker’s arrest circulated, a second victim, Angelica Montano, came forward to say she had also been victimized by him. Even though she had reported the incident to the police, there had been no follow-up.
Many other women who had been abducted and tortured at Raymond’s Lounge came forward, and it was discovered that Raymond’s Lounge’s manager was also an accomplice. Several personnel of law enforcement was identified as accomplices. Numerous FBI agents were dispatched to investigate Ray’s property and the surrounding area. However, no identifiable human remains were discovered despite the police’s belief that he had murdered multiple individuals.

During the trial, the prosecution presented three witnesses: Cynthia Vigil, Kelli Garrett, and the mother of a victim who had died. The women testified against Ray and described the horrifying tortures they endured. Garrett stated that she did not desire for his execution because it would be too simple. She desired for him to spend the rest of his life in prison.
After being found guilty of multiple crimes, Ray was sentenced to 224 years in prison. His girlfriend Hendy, who had testified against Ray, was also sentenced to 36 years for her participation in the offenses. Jesse Ray, his daughter, was also sentenced to two and a half years for her participation in the offenses.
She was also sentenced to an additional five years of probation. Ray was transported to the Lea County Correctional Facility in Hobbs, New Mexico in May 2002 for questioning. However, he perished of a heart attack on May 28 before he could be interrogated.
