The adopted daughter of renowned filmmaker Woody Allen and actor Mia Farrow, Dylan O’Sullivan Farrow is an American artist, writer, and former actress. Her mother, who had a relationship with Allen from 1982 to 1992 and made several movie appearances, gave him permission to co-adopt two of her children, including Dylan, in 1991. She had performed in movies directed by Allen as a kid, including “Crimes and Misdemeanors” (1989), “New York Stories” (1989), and “Alice” (1990). She is now well known, though, as a result of a controversy involving her adoptive father Allen’s sexual misconduct. She has appeared on numerous television programs as an adult to discuss the event and the accusations, most recently on “CBS This Morning” (2018) and “Entertainment Tonight Canada” (2018). She also made an appearance in the 2018 documentary ‘The Reckoning: Hollywood’s Worst Kept Secret’ about the subject.
Become a Hero
Dylan O’Sullivan Farrow, who was adopted by renowned actress Mia Farrow at the age of two weeks, has been in the press continuously since then. When Woody Allen co-adopted her in 1991, she made headlines once more. The alleged sexual abuse that her adoptive father was accused of, however, is the only incident that has received as much attention lately as it did when it first occurred in 1992.
After a bloody court fight, her mother decided not to pursue charges of molestation in order to spare her additional trauma. When she released an open letter in the “New York Times” in February 2014, reiterating the sexual allegation claims, the incident recently came to light once more. Following the “Me Too” movement in December 2017, she penned an opinion piece for the “Los Angeles Times” in which she questioned why Allen was not targeted by the movement.
Disputes and scandals
Dylan O’Sullivan Farrow, then seven years old, reportedly informed her mother Mia Farrow on August 4, 1992, about a Woody Allen-related incident that occurred in the attic. As a result, her mother reportedly brought Dylan to their pediatrician, who then reported the alleged sexual assault to the police. Woody Allen sued Farrow for full custody of his co-adopted children Dylan and Moses as well as his biological son Satchel after being made aware of the claims on August 6, 1992.
All of these things occurred after Mia Farrow learned that her then-husband Allen was having an affair with Soon-Yi, another of her adopted children, who was 35 years younger than him, in January of that year. Allen took advantage of this to allege that the accusations were motivated by retaliation.
It’s interesting to note that Dr. John Leventhal, who oversaw the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Sexual Abuse Clinic’s investigations, discredited the incident in his sworn evidence despite never having met Dylan or Farrow. Elliott Wilk, the presiding judge, disapproved of the report. In his final ruling in June 1993, he disallowed any possibility of retaliation and denied Allen complete custody or visitation rights, citing Dylan’s “grossly inappropriate” behavior toward her.
Ronan, Farrow, and Allen’s biological son, later admitted that she had sided with her sister, while Moses, Farrow’s adoptive sibling, made peace with Allen and accused his biological sister of physically abusing him and teaching the kids made-up stories.
Dylan’s Individual Existence
On July 11, 1985, Dylan O’Sullivan Farrow was born in the United States. She was only two weeks old when actor Mia Farrow, a single mother at the time, adopted her. Woody Allen, who eventually adopted Dylan and her adoptive brother Moses in December 1991, was dating her mother at the time. She is one of Mistress Farrow’s fourteen children; she has four biological children in addition to the ten children she has adopted, including Dylan.
She is the half-sister of her mother’s children from her marriage to André Previn, Fletcher Farrow Previn, and the twins Matthew and Sascha Previn. She also has three other brothers that Farrow and Previn adopted, including Soon-Yi from Korea and the Vietnamese infant Lark Song Previn and Summer “Daisy” Song Previn.
Five years prior to adopting her, her mother had adopted Moses Farrow following her split from Previn. She is the adoptive sister of Satchel O’Sullivan Farrow, who was subsequently known as Ronan Farrow and was Farrow’s biological son with Woody Allen.
Later, Tam Farrow, Kaeli-Shea Farrow (also known as Quincy Maureen Farrow), Frankie-Minh, Isaiah Justus, and Gabriel Wilk Farrow were adopted by her mother (named after the judge who presided over the sexual abuse case, also known as Thaddeus Wilk Farrow). Sadly, Tam, Lark, and Thaddeus, three of her adopted siblings, have passed away.
After her mother’s breakup with Allen, Dylan was briefly known as Eliza before changing her name to Malone to avoid unwanted attention. In September 2016, she gave birth to a daughter named Evangeline. She is currently happily married.
