Gong Myung is a South Korean actor who has appeared in films, television series, and web series, among other mediums. Gong is a member of the “first ever South Korean actor group” ‘5urprise,’ which was founded by ‘Fantagio,’ a South Korean talent agency and film and drama production business, in September 2013. It includes Seo Kang-joon, Lee Tae-hwan, Kang Tae-oh, and Yoo Il. The members of ‘5urprise’ debuted as actors in the web series ‘After School: Lucky or Not’ in 2013. In the same year, Gong starred in another online series called ‘Infinite Power’ and made his big screen debut in the film ‘If You Were Me 6’. Childhood and Adolescence

Gong Myung was born in South Korea on May 26, 1994, as Kim Dong-hyun.
Doyoung, his younger brother, is a K-pop singer best known for being a member of the boy band NCT.

In an interview, Gong said about his younger brother: “Since he was a child, [Doyoung] has been a fantastic singer. He’d win honors for singing, but I was so concentrated on athletics when we were younger that I didn’t give it any thought. But I believe it egged [Doyoung] on a little because I made my debut first (laughter). We’re all rooting for each other. Please take a good look at us.”

Career of Gong Myung

In September 2013, the South Korean actor group ‘5urprise’ was formed by ‘Fantagio,’ a South Korean talent agency and film and drama production firm. They chose the members of the group through a ‘Performers League’ program that seeks out prospective actors.

Gong joined ‘5urprise’ alongside Seo Kang-joon, Lee Tae-hwan, Kang Tae-oh, and Yoo Il, all of whom had been trained for a few years before making their debut in the entertainment industry.

He also played Seon-jae in the short film “Ice River” and Han Soo-dong in the online series “Infinite Power” that year.

In the 2014 film ‘Futureless Things,’ he portrayed Ki-cheol. In the same year, he appeared in the film ‘A Girl at My Door’ as Police Officer Kwon Son-oh.

The audience gave a three-minute standing ovation to ‘A Girl at My Door,’ which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2014. It premiered in South Korean theaters on May 22, 2014, to generally positive critical acclaim.
