Gyasi Zardes is a talented American soccer player who has played for the national team in many international games. He currently plays for LA Galaxy, which is a big American soccer club. Zardes’s career took off when he was picked for the LA Galaxy Academy U-18 team in the US Soccer Development Academy while he was in college. After that, he made it to the Galaxy’s Under-20 team and played for them in the United Soccer League Super-20 for two years in a row. Gyasi then went to California State University, where he played soccer for the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners for three years in a row. In his first year with the Roadrunners, he didn’t play a single game. However, in his second year, he made his debut against Real Salt Lake. He scored 18 goals in 20 games that season, which was a big reason why Bakersfield Roadrunners became the first college soccer team to play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) 1st Division. Because of what he did in college, he was nominated for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He won the Player Trophy from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for helping the CSU Roadrunners get into the NCAA Division 1 Tournament. Jurgen Klinsmann, who is the head coach of the US Men’s National Team, personally wanted Gyasi to join the team. Zardes also played in every game of the Copa America Centenario in 2016.
Early years and childhood
Gyasi Zardes was born on September 2, 1991, in Hawthorne City, which is in the southwest corner of Los Angeles County in California. His parents are Linda Zardes and Glenn Zardes. As he grew up in Hawthorne, he slowly learned about the problems that plagued the area, such as drug abuse and occasional gang fights.
He remembers that his parents, especially his father, and grandparents gave him a lot of help and confidence when he started playing soccer at the age of four.
Gyasi has three older brothers, and the fact that they all went on to play soccer professionally made him want to start playing as a child. He played soccer for local and regional teams when he was only nine years old, and he was very good in the middle.
Zardes’ soccer career got off to a good start when he was picked up by the Under-18 team of LA Galaxy, a professional football club that plays in “Major League Soccer” as a member of the “Western Conference.”
A Career in Club Football
Gyasi Zardes played for the LA Galaxy Academy’s Under-18 team during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons for the USSDA (United States Soccer Development Authority). He was also on the Under-20 team for the LA Galaxy that went to the 2009 United Soccer League Super-20 meet.
Gyasi was a redshirt for the Bakersfield Roadrunners of California State University in the 2009–10 season. The next year, he played on the field and scored five goals and set up seven assists. In his second year, he was in his element and scored 18 goals in 20 games.
Zardes was a big reason why the Roadrunners made it into the NCAA’s first division. Bakersfield had never been in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s 1st division tournament before, but Zardes’s 18 goals helped the Roadrunners break the jinx.
In 2011, he was the fourth-best scorer in the first division of college soccer. He was named “Player of the Year” by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and was also in the running for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
Zardes scored 15 goals in 17 games during the 2011-12 season, and he also had nine assists. Bakersfield has won a record number of games in a row for four straight seasons because of how well he played.
Gyasi was hired by LA Galaxy because of a rule called “Homegrown Player,” which says that a club can pick a few players from its own development academy.
In April 2013, he played his first game for the LA Galaxy Reserves against the Seattle Sounders Reserves. Later that same month, he played his first game for the LA Galaxy A-team against Real Salt Lake.
Gyasi scored LA Galaxy’s only goal in a 1-3 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps, which was also his first goal for the team. In 2013, he scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Chivas USA.
He scored a brace twice in 2014. The first time was against New England Revolution, and the second time was against Colorado Rapids. Both of those games were won by scores of 5-1 and 6-0. He beat Diego Fagundez’s record to become the most successful Homegrown Player in MLS history. His braces helped him do this.
Zardes scored a goal as a Homegrown Player in the last game of Major League Soccer in 2014, which was against the New England Revolution on December 7. The Galaxy’s captain, Robbie Keane, scored the game-winning goal, making LA Galaxy the only team to win the MLS Cup five times.
Gyasi scored 16 goals during the 2014 season, making him the sixth-best scorer. He was right behind Robbie Keane, who scored 19 goals.
Career as a footballer for the whole world
After a good season at home in 2013–14, when he scored 19 goals, he was chosen to play for the USMNT (United States Men’s National Team) in January 2015. He first played for his country on January 28, 2015, when he replaced Clint Dempsey in the second half of a game against Chile.
He played for the national team for the first time in a friendly against Panama. He helped set up Clint Dempsey’s second goal, which helped the US win the game 2-0.
On June 5, 2015, in a warm-up game against the Netherlands, Gyasi scored his first goal for the USMNT. He was also on the national team at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He helped Dempsey score the winning goal, which helped his country get past the elimination rounds.
About a month and a half later, he scored his first goal for his country in a quarterfinal game against Cuba that the USMNT won by a score of 6 to 0.
