Marcus Jamal Hopson, often known as Hopsin, is a rapper and producer from the United States. Additionally, he has appeared in a few films and TV shows. He performed in a few bit parts during his formative years and produced his own music CD, “Emurge,” which was made available online. He then entered into a contract with “Ruthless Records” and issued his self-titled debut album. However, due to disagreements with the record label, he made the decision to opt out of his contract. Marcus Jamal Hopson was born on July 18, 1985, in Los Angeles, California, and was raised in the predominantly Hispanic neighborhood of Panorama City.

Together with his friend Damien Ritter, he founded their own record label, “Funk Volume,” and SwizZz, Ritter’s younger brother, was one of the artists they included on the mixtape “Haywire.” Due to ‘Ruthless Records’ contractual concerns, the record was only made available online. It later received the “gold” certification for having been downloaded more than 100,000 times.

Due to his disagreements with Damien Ritter, “Funk Volume” ceased operations in 2016. This was the last CD to be issued by the label. On the ‘Billboard 200’ list, the album peaked at number 17.
After that, he established his own indie label, “Undercover Prodigy,” through which he published his fourth studio album, “No Shame,” and the smash song “All Your Fault.” He also released his fifth studio album, “Ill Mind of Hopsin 8.”
