Hu Ge is a well-known Chinese actor. At 14, he began presenting television shows and studied acting at the famed Shanghai Theatre Academy. His first big break came in the TV series ‘Chinese Paladin’. Early Childhood of Hu Ge

Hu Ge was born Hu Ke on September 20, 1982 in Shanghai. His names are Hugh and Hugo and he is of Han Chinese descent. His ancestors came from Wuxi, Jiangsu.

He attended Shanghai Xiang Elementary School and graduated from Shanghai No 2 High School in 2001 with honors. He excelled in extracurricular activities and attended the Shanghai Media Group’s Little Stars Performing Arts School (SMG).
When he was 14, he hosted the popular TV show ‘Sunrise Youth’ on the Shanghai TV Education Channel.

He also hosted a show on East Radio Shanghai and did commercials to earn money before graduating from high school.
After high school, he studied acting at the famed Central Academy of Drama and the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The Tangren Media Company introduced him to voice dubbing and a tiny role in the film ‘Pretend There’s No Feeling’.

A Career of Hu Ge

Hu Ge’s first big break came in 2005 when he won the 2nd Enlight Media Awards for his portrayal as Li Xiaoyao in the TV series Chinese Paladin.
The 601st Phone Call, for which he won the Film Actor with Most Potential Award in 2006, followed. In the same year, he released ‘Treasure’.

After a year out to recover from an automobile accident, he returned in 2008 as Guo Jing in ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’. In the same year, he published ‘Start’ and gave his first solo concert in Shanghai.
In 2009-2010, he appeared in the serials Chinese Paladin 3 and The Myth. His award-winning serial performances elevated his prominence in China and Asia.

Hu showed his versatility in parts like ‘Bitter Coffee,’ ‘Shangri-la,’ and ‘1911,’ for which he won the 31st Hundred Flowers Award for Best New Actor in 2011.
He also wrote and starred in four of the ten episodes of the TV series ‘Lights from the City’. In 2013, he ventured into theatre, garnering fans with his performances in ‘A Dream Like a Dream’ and ‘Forever Yin Xueyan.’

His award winning performances continued in a series of prime time television serials, making him one of China’s leading performers by 2017.
In 2017, he stated his intention to leave acting to complete his education in America.
