Im Si Wan was born in Busan, South Korea on 1 December 1988. ImWoong Jae was his given name. He was always interested in music and the arts, even as a child. Later in life, he decided to pursue a career in music.
He attended Busan Gudeok High School and Busan National University. He later attended the University of East Broadcasting Arts after graduating from the University. He is currently enrolled at Woosong Information College.

Career of Im
Im was in Busan for the Chin Chin Song Festival when he was recruited as a trainee by Star Empire. He joined a group called ‘Children Of Empire’ shortly after beginning his training. The group consisted of nine members, who trained together for three years before embarking on guerilla performances across the country.
A year later, on 7th January 2010, the group made its debut with ‘Nativity,’ an extended play. The group reformed as a boyband and adopted the moniker ZE: A. They made their KBS Music Bank debut on 15 January 2010.
Im debuted in 2012 as a young Heo Yeom in the period drama ‘Moon Embracing The Sun.’ It achieved widespread acclaim and outperformed the industry standard of 40% viewer ratings, earning it the title of National Drama.
This aided Im significantly, as his acting was highly regarded and the critics lauded his performance. He also achieved a certain level of prominence in South Korea’s acting industry.

In 2017, he continued to play roles that were out of character for him. In the crime caper film ‘One Line,’ he portrayed a cunning con man, and in the crime action film ‘The Merciless,’ he portrayed an undercover cop who works with a drug smuggling ring.
