Issa and his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia when he was a child. Growing up in one of America’s most historically and culturally significant cities only fueled Issa’s love for music. He worked as a kid model and was represented by Wilhelmina.

He showed his prodigious musical abilities at a young age. It wowed his father, who requested him to assist him in writing his lyrics. A few years later, at the age of 13, he began writing for himself. Crown World Entertainment, a production label, was the first to discover Issa.

They then introduced him to Wayne Williams, Jive Records’ executive vice president of A&R at the time. Williams had seen a recording of him before. He instructed him to act in front of all of Jive’s A&Rs and VPs. Issa signed a contract with the label a few weeks afterward. He contracted with RCA Records when he was 15 years old.

In 2011, Issa collaborated with DJ Holiday to release ‘Back to the Future,’ a mixtape in which he attempted to bridge the gap between the new crop of rappers and their esteemed forefathers. A year later, he released ‘King Issa,’ another collaboration with DJ Holiday.

He published his third and fourth mixtapes, ‘This Summer’ and ‘Best Kept Secrets,’ in 2015. He had a very active year in 2016. He dropped his first EP, ‘Blue Moon,’ a mixtape called ‘This Winter,’ and the second installment of ‘Sample Sundays.’ (the first installment was released sometime in the early 2010s).
