Theresa Rubel, sometimes known as “Trubel” and pronounced like “trouble,” is a fictional character on the NBC fantasy police procedural drama series “Grimm,” which is largely based on the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales. Jacqueline Toboni is an American actress most known for playing this character. Executive producer Jim Kouf introduced her to the show when it was in its third season in 2014, and she remained in the role until the fifth season of the series in 2017. She performed in the short film “Bad Girls” and appeared as a guest on programs including “Home & Family” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” in 2014. She made a guest appearance on one episode of “Major Crimes” and appeared as herself on “Jill Takes LA” the following year. She was given the recurring part of Jo on the web series “Easy” on Netflix in 2016, and she still plays the part now. She starred as Kelly in the movie “Liked” in 2017 and made a cameo appearance in the eleventh episode of the sixteenth season of “Hell’s Kitchen,” when she attended the dinner service honoring the fundraisers for “Stand Up to Cancer.” Her upcoming films include the drama “The Bygone,” the suspenseful “Stand at Paxton County,” and the horror film “The Last Room.”

Become a Star

Jacqueline Toboni started performing in the Young Conservatory at the American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) in San Francisco while still a student at St. Ignatius College Preparatory. She was founded by screenwriter, director, and producer Jim Kouf in February 2014 while she was a student at the University of Michigan. He had come to talk to her screenplay class. He separated some of the children during a table read with the class. He gave them the opportunity to read the screenplay for the young female character of Trubel, a significant future character in the third season of the NBC television series “Grimm,” so they could get a sense of the audition process. Jacqueline’s taped reading astounded Kouf despite her lack of prior professional expertise in the film and television industries. He persuaded NBC officials and Hazy Mills, the show’s production firm, to recruit her for the job, at which point she was required to fly to Los Angeles to re-read for the part among seasoned LA actresses. She later had to go through a screen test in Portland with David Giuntoli, but she eventually landed the part and quickly became a fan favorite. Interestingly, her mother coincidentally found a Grimm brothers fairy tale book that had been lying by her bedside all along shortly after she was cast in the part. Between 2014 to 2017, she went on to play Theresa “Trubel” Rubel for three seasons. Later, she was cast in a recurring part on the Netflix series “Easy,” and she made appearances in several other films and TV shows.

Why Jacqueline Is Special?

Jacqueline Toboni stated in an interview that she draws inspiration from her younger self, “who just wanted to be a tomboy so badly,” to create the character of “Truble.” She was the local troublemaker when she was a child, throwing smoke bombs on people’s doorsteps and ditching doorbells as part of the neighborhood gang. She admitted that she has stage combat certification from her time in Michigan when asked if she trained for all the fight scenes. She has a stunt double, but she frequently performs her own stunts. Once, she ran into a car and dropped-kicked someone in the face.
