Currently, he is signed with ‘Marathon Artists’ under the alias ‘Shock Machine.’ Righton, in addition to being an independent musician, composes music for feature and short films. Youth and Early Life

James Righton was born in England on August 25, 1983. Since his father was a musician, he was exposed to music from an early age, and he was encouraged to join several musical groups. Prior to graduating from high school, Righton’s father had introduced him to numerous bands. At ‘Stratford-upon-Avon High School,’ Righton met future bandmate Simon Taylor-Davis. He became Simon’s companion and taught him how to play the guitar.

The two then met Jamie Reynolds in London, who had purchased a piece of studio equipment with his redundancy funds after losing his job. The trio came up with the band moniker “Klaxons” after reading Filippo Marinetti’s “The Futurist Manifesto.” Righton’s career in popular music began when he began performing and recording compositions with Simon Taylor-Davis and Jamie Reynolds.
