Childhood and Adolescence of Jessia Brown Findlay

Jessica Rose Brown-Findlay, better known by her stage name Jessica Brown Findlay, was born on September 14, 1989, in Cookham, Berkshire, to a multicultural family with Scottish and English roots.

Her father, Christopher Brown-Findlay, is a financial advisor who used to work in investment banking, and her mother, Beverley, is a teacher’s aide and nurse.

She received her early training at the National Youth Ballet and the Royal Ballet Associates. She even spent a summer season with the Kirov Ballet at the Royal Opera House in London.

To complete her official schooling, she enrolled to Furze Platt Senior School in Maidenhead. Following that, she turned down offers from several ballet schools in order to attend the Arts Educational School in Tring Park, Hertfordshire.

Her goal was cut short when she experienced ankle problems in the third year of the program and had three procedures, the third of which was unsuccessful.

She completed her study and enrolled in a Fine Arts course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, despite her sadness at not being able to dance again.
