American country pop vocalist, songwriter, and reality television personality Jessie James Decker is best known for her album ‘Southern Girl City Lights’ At the age of fifteen, Decker auditioned for a number of major country labels but was unsuccessful in obtaining a contract. At the age of seventeen, Jessie Decker realized that she needed to refine her singing technique as she struggled to obtain a recording contract from a major label despite two years of auditioning. She sought advice from Carla Wallace of the independent label Big Yellow Dog Music and began working on both her singing technique and her lyrics.

Soon after, her songwriting improved, and one of her songs, “Gypsy Girl,” was presented to eventual American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. It exposed Decker to a larger audience, and she inked a record deal with Mercury Records shortly thereafter. Despite Decker’s desire to be a country vocalist, the producers pushed her to work with hip-hop producers to give her music a more “pop” sound.

Her second studio album, “Southern Girl City Lights,” was an enormous success. Within a month of its release on October 13, 2017, via Epic Records, 21,000 album-equivalent units were sold. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top Country Albums chart.
