Jimmy Johnson is a great American football coach with multiple awards and championships to his name. Youth and Early Life

Johnson was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 16, 1943, and attended Thomas Jefferson High School with a passion for football.

As a student at the ‘University of Arkansas,’ he was a lineman for the ‘Arkansas Razorbacks football team. Many of his teammates went on to carve out successful careers in professional football.

Jimmy Johnson’s Career

In 1965, Johnson began his coaching career at Louisiana Tech University as an assistant coach. The next year, he assumed the same role at Picayune Memorial High School in Mississippi.
From 1967 to 1970, he served as an assistant coach at universities such as ‘Wichita State University and ‘Iowa State University

When he returned to Arkansas in 1973, he assumed the post of defensive coordinator, which he held for the next three years.
In 1977, he became assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the ‘University of Pittsburgh football team. He continued to teach Randy Holloway, David Logan, and Al Chesley for an additional year.

In 1979, he became the head coach at ‘Oklahoma State University and coached there for five years. Then he donned the head coach’s headgear for the University of Miami.
Johnson accepted Jerry Jones’ offer to become head coach of the ‘Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League from 1989 through 1993.

After a dispute with Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and Johnson’s former colleague at Arkansas University, he resigned as head coach. The excellent coach then spent nearly two years as a TV analyst for “Fox Sports.”

In 1996, he became the head coach of the ‘Miami Dolphins.’ However, he had fewer victories during the season and quit after three years.

He has now returned to ‘Fox Sports’ and is currently featured on ‘Fox NFL Sunday’. He has also appeared in film and television, including in the film The Waterboy.

He has also appeared in various infomercials, including 2007’s “BetterTrades.” The former coach also held a contract with Procter & Gamble, an American consumer goods company.

The Associated Press awarded him the ‘NFL Coach of the Year Award in 1990.
He was the only ‘Super Bowl Winning Head Coach’ for two consecutive years, winning Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII in 1993 and 1994, respectively.
