Robert Martyn John Phelps is an English actor best known for playing Fred Weasley and his identical twin brother George Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. Oliver and his brother missed their final examinations in order to participate in a public audition when they were 14 years old. They had no prior acting experience, but their excitement and eagerness made up for it. After around six auditions, they were chosen, and they would go on to appear in all eight movies in the franchise as their individual characters. Phelps continued acting after the Harry Potter series was finished, and she is currently establishing an amazing resume. Among his other works are the short film “Ears,” the comedy-drama “Kingdom,” and the television movie “Danny and the Human Zoo.” The twins have also invested a lot of time and energy into a number of charitable causes, such as the Virgin Money Giving Drive and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Oliver Phelps’s Career
The Phelps twins, then 14 years old, made the decision in 2000 to forgo their school examinations in favor of the open audition they had been hearing so much about. They were chosen to play Fred and George Weasley after around six audition rounds. They weren’t initially certain who would portray whom, though.
They approached Janet Hirshenson, the casting director, and enquired about it. She told them Oliver would play George, and James would play Fred. The twins are still unsure as to whether it was their initial plan or a spur-of-the-moment choice.
Despite the fact that Oliver and James resemble their fictional counterparts quite a bit and have pulled quite a few pranks on the cast and crew, they have never switched personas while at work. They reportedly avoided doing so out of fear of being discovered and forced to make the cast and crew work on a Saturday.
