Peter Gunz is an American rapper who rose to prominence after the release of the album ‘Make it Reign’ with Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz. The album was a massive success, reaching number 38 on the US Billboard 200. In 1998, it also scored eighth on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Perhaps his most well-known tune is “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby),” which was among the top 10 singles on the 1998 Billboard Hot 100. Peter Gunz began his career in the early 1990s when he and Sean “Lord Tariq” Hamilton created a hip-hop rhyming combo. His upbringing in the Bronx greatly influenced his approach to music, as it did for many other African-American artists.

In 1996, they made their debut on Whodini’s album ‘Six’ with the track ‘Can’t Get Enough.’ 1998 marked the release of the duo’s debut and only album, ‘Make it Reign,’ which featured the platinum-selling single ‘Deja Vu.’ The partnership separated the following year, and Peter Gunz pursued an unsuccessful solo career that ended in 1999.
