Rapper Phora, real name Marco Anthony Archer, hails from the United States. He is a member of the new wave of American musicians who achieved fame without the aid of a major record deal. He was raised in California, where he was born and raised. He had a difficult upbringing during which he became friends with infamous people. He had a searing pain inside of him that he later articulated through his music and lyrics, and his family life was far from ideal. He began working as a tattoo artist while he was in his late teens. After that, he earned enough money to purchase the necessary musical instruments. At a young age, he began writing songs and selling CDs outside of bars and clubs. Additionally, he posted his songs to a number of social media platforms. He eventually began to attract attention. He founded his record label, “Yours Truly,” in 2011, and in 2012, he published his first album, “Still a Kid.” He has so far put out seven rap albums and hopes to accomplish more in life. He revealed that he got a contract with “Warner Bros.” in 2017. He released the album “Yours Truly Forever” in the same year.

Early Childhood & Life

In Anaheim, California, on October 11, 1994, Marco Anthony Archer gave birth to Phora. He was raised in a sketchy area. He was exposed to a drug-fueled, criminal, and chaotic lifestyle. Phora’s mother raised him and his younger sister after his father abandoned her not long after Phora’s birth.

His mother began seeing other men, who were not kind to Phora. Phora began experiencing mental health issues at a young age, including severe sadness and panic attacks. He was unable to socialize with other students and frequently exhibited antisocial traits. He was frequently sent to psychiatrists, but that did not make a difference.

As he grew older, he joined a couple of neighborhood gangs and turned to petty theft as an outlet. He once got into a fight with some neighborhood guys and suffered severe injuries. He received no assistance. He remained in the hospital for the following three months while threatening phone calls from unidentified numbers persisted to his family.

When that happened, he was 15 years old, and it profoundly affected his mental state. He made the decision to act after realizing the importance of his life. He instantly re-started and began his education to become a tattoo artist. After being successful in his career, he considered pursuing music. He launched an amateur record company called “Yours Truly” using the money he made as a tattoo artist, acquired some equipment, and the rest is history.

Career of Phora

Phora began to compose music at home. He began putting his painful life experiences into poetry after finding inspiration in rappers like Tupac and J.Cole. He gained a solid following in 2011 because to the release of rap songs including “Sick With It,” “Inner City Kids,” and “Payback.” His first rap album, Still a Kid, was published in November 2012 under the name “Yours Truly.”

He had to promote the album himself because he didn’t have a legitimate record label. He made himself as well-known as he could on his own by selling CDs outside of nightclubs and clubs. He started an independent music career by having his neighborhood buddies film his music videos.

He independently published his second album, “One Life to Live,” in July 2013. He was able to amass a considerable following in his community. The greatest ally in his mission to ensure that his music was heard by the public outside of his community was word of mouth. He became well-known on social media because of his effortless rhymes and his apparent direct address to the audience.

He made a lot of people aware of him by releasing two additional albums in the following two years, “Sincerely Yours” and “Angels with Broken Wings.” Phora was still looking for a major record label to back him though.

In 2014, he was joined by his friend George Orozco, who started helping with his music videos. Their collaboration was a triumph, and each of their YouTube music videos was a big hit. Phora released “Nights Like These,” his sole EP to date, in 2014.

By 2016, Phora had begun work on his subsequent album, titled “With Love,” and was well-known in California’s underground rap community. With Love, which topped the “US Rap Chart,” took things a step further than his past albums.

Phora revealed via his Instagram account in 2017 that “Warner Bros.” had contacted him. The transaction was arranged with him on behalf of “Warner Bros.” by Eesean Bolden. Phora said that he had done his study about the contract and that he liked how Warner Bros. provided their artist’s adequate creative leeway.

Phora collaborated with “Warner Bros.” to release his album “Yours Truly Forever” in the same year. This album, like his earlier ones, quickly connected with the fans.

Following his deal with “Warner Bros.,” Phora went on tour in his own nation. Nearly all of his performances to date have drawn sizable crowds of people.

Individual Life of Phora

Phora has mentioned in the past that his father, who was also an avid music fan in his youth, is the source of his musical taste. He also thinks that the time he spent doing graffiti had a significant impact on his music. He also asserts that he was inspired to pursue a career in tattooing by his early efforts in graffiti.

The past of Phora was tragic. He was suicidal for a very long time, as evidenced by the songs he wrote. He was viciously stabbed by an assailant in 2011. He managed to survive the attack, but in the years that followed, he was targeted again. He was shot three times in August 2015 when he was in his car by an unidentified attacker. Phora lived, but the offender has not yet been found.
