Redfoo is an American rapper, DJ, singer, and composer best known for forming the musical group LMFAO alongside his nephew Sky Blu. The hit song ‘Party Rock Anthem,’ which reached No. 1 in numerous nations’ music charts, including the UK and the US, made the uncle-nephew combination famous. Before creating the band LMFAO, Redfoo had a long career as a musician. During his early years in Los Angeles, he collaborated with a number of rappers, including the Black Eyed Peas in the late 1990s. He even performed alongside Madonna at the Super Bowl. Redfoo was exposed to various types of music at a young age as the son of Berry Gordy, Jr., the founder of the Motown record label. His love of music was also impacted by his mother, a writer and producer. He used to jump onstage during celebrity performances and hang out with the musical stars when he was a kid. He grew up rubbing shoulders with celebrities such as Michael Jackson and performers such as Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. Despite his family’s company, tennis was his top priority at the time. He just became serious about music when he was 16, after hearing some Christmas raps. He began programming on the Atari STE-50 soon after. He noticed that there wasn’t any rapping or singing in dance music at the time. As a result, he chose to combine it with hip-hop. To realize his dream, he established the band LMFAO and released the song “I’m in Miami Bitch,” which became his first single and launched him to fame.
