Sarah Geronimo (Sara Asher Tua Geronimo) is a multi-talented Filipino singer, musician, record producer, dancer, and actor who came to stardom because of her multi-talented personality and stunning on-screen appearance. While she was a child, she got singing lessons from her father and polished her skills on a regular basis, and as she grew older, she became a master of her craft. Sarah was then accompanied by her mother to several auditions for children’s singing competitions, as a result of which she was cast in plays such as ‘Pen*Pen De Sarapen’ and ‘NEXT,’ the programs that laid the groundwork for her long and successful career as a musician and actress. Her professional career began at the age of fourteen when she won ‘Star for a Night,’ a prominent singing competition in the Philippines. Childhood and Adolescence

Sarah Geronimo was born on July 25, 1988, in Manila, Philippines, to Delfin and Divina Geronimo. Her father was employed by PLDT, and her mother maintained a beauty shop out of her home.

Sarah picked up on her parents’ passion of music at a young age, and by the time she was two, she was already singing songs and nursery rhymes. Her mother recognized her daughter’s talent and began taking her to auditions for TV shows and music performances.

Sarah landed roles in various children’s shows and began her acting and singing career while also performing in malls and lounges – all before the age of ten! Sarah didn’t learn to sing professionally from anyone other than her father, who happened to be a musician at the time.

The Career of Sarah

Sarah began her acting career as a child, appearing in various children’s shows such as ‘Pen-Pen De Sarapen’ and ‘NEXT,’ as well as a small role in the film ‘Sarah… Ang Munting Prinsesa.’

Her big break came in 2002, when she competed in ‘Star for a Night,’ a popular singing talent competition, and won. She won 1 million PHP and a contract with Viva Entertainment, a major music company, as a prize.

Sarah’s first album, ‘Popstar: A Dream Come True,’ was released the following year and was a minor hit. Her innovative approach to singing, as well as her confidence level, were complimented by the critics.

She began presenting TV shows around that time and acted in a few films, including ‘Masikip Sa Dibdib’ and ‘Lastikman: Unang Banat’ in 2004.

Sarah’s second album, ‘Sweet Sixteen,’ was released later that year and quickly became famous among teenagers. Concerts followed, and more people began to appreciate the young starlet’s raw ability.

Sarah released a song off her upcoming album, ‘I’ll Be There,’ in 2008, and starred alongside John Cruz in the romantic drama ‘A Very Special Love.’

The film was a hit, becoming one of the highest-grossing Filipino films of the decade, and it featured a song from Sarah’s upcoming album, ‘Just Me.’ In 2008, the album was published, and it included a song written in collaboration with the Backstreet Boys. When the album was released, it was certified platinum.

She re-released ‘Just me’ with minor adjustments, and the album’s concert DVDs were also a huge hit. Sarah co-starred with John Cruz in the sequel to ‘A Very Special Love,’ titled ‘You Changed My Life,’ in 2009.

The picture was met with critical and financial acclaim at its initial release, and it gradually grew in popularity to become the highest-grossing film in Philippine history.

From mid-2009 to mid-2010, she was busy touring and receiving excellent feedback from crowds and critics, and in October 2009, she released an album called “Your Christmas Girl.”

Her next studio album, ‘Music and Me,’ was platinum-certified, as were both of her previous albums. Sarah won a star on the Philippines Walk of Fame in December 2009, and she starred in the film ‘Hating Kapatid’ in 2010.

Sarah secured a contract with ABS-CBN in November 2011 to appear in concerts and movies. After reviewing the box office figures for the film ‘Catch me, I’m in Love,’ she was awarded the title of Princess of Filipino films by critics.

Sarah won many honors in late 2012, including the ‘Best Asian Artist Award’ and the ‘MNet Asian Music Awards.’
Sarah was nominated for three distinct categories at the 2013 ‘World Music Awards,’ including Best Live Act and Best Female Artist.

Her film ‘It Takes a Man and a Woman’ smashed all previous box office records and became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time the same year.
