On the Family Channel drama mockumentary series “The Next Step,” which debuted in its fourth season in 2016, Shelby Bain, a Canadian dancer and actor, has played the part of Amy since that season’s premiere. She appeared in six episodes of the Canadian drama and performing arts series “Backstage” the same year as a student. She has appeared in a few short films, including “Wretched” and “Withheld,” danced in the movie “Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight,” and performed live on the CBC miniseries “Over the Rainbow” during her brief acting career. Shelby Bain started her career as a dancer, and her appearances at a number of notable occasions helped her land gigs performing on television. She did, however, make her acting debut as Scarlett in the 2011 horror movie “Wretched,” which was produced by students at Humber College. She was eight or nine years old when the short film was filmed, but she took a break from acting to concentrate on competitive dancing. She made her debut on television in 2012 when she danced as a Munchkin in the CBC miniseries “Over the Rainbow.”

When she was about 13 years old, she returned to acting and starred as a ballet dancer and student in the 2014 direct-to-DVD movie “Isabelle Dances into the Spotlight,” the eighth movie in the “American Girl” film series. After making an appearance as Morgan in the 2016 short film “Withheld,” she was cast in her breakthrough role as Amy, a dancer with Dance Inc., in the reality-style drama series “The Next Step” on Family Channel. In three seasons, from 2016 to 2018, she appeared in 68 episodes in a recurrent role. She also had a minor role in the 2016 season of “Backstage,” a Family Channel program.

Shelby’s Personal Life Tara and Michael Bain welcomed Micara Bain into the world on July 28, 2001 in Canada. Her parents’ names were combined to create her middle name. She has an elder brother named Connor and is the only daughter of her parents. When she was just four years old, she started dancing. At Jeremy Nasmith’s Dance TEQ Center, she continued her training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip-hop, and acro. Additionally, she attended Durham Elite Cheer once a week for tumbling lessons. She enjoys lyrical and acro dance the best, and her go-to move is the “scorpion,” also known as the “hairpin.” She has gymnastics training as well. She not only plays the bass clarinet but also sings. She attended a public school in Whitby, Ontario, where she graduated with honors from grade 8 and won the class valedictorian award. After that, she enrolled in Toronto’s Rosedale School for the Arts and began training at Dance Inc. in Ajax, Ontario. Later, she attended Lewis Baumander Acting Studios for Advanced Acting Courses. When she was younger, she had dreams of being a director or a scientist in addition to dancing. Newton is the name of her dog.

When Shelby Bain was six years old, she had already joined a competitive dance team. Since then, she has competed in numerous dance competitions both domestically and abroad, winning numerous awards and accolades. She was named Miss Teen Burlington, Miss Junior Candance – Ajax 2012, and Junior Improvisation Winner at the “Candance Competition.” She has won various ‘Hall of Fame Nationals’ distinctions, such as the ‘Solo Showdown Finalist’ award, the ‘Precision and Entertainment Awards’, and the ‘Teen Duet National Champion’ award. At Dance Inc., she received the ‘Driven Award’ in recognition. At NYCDA, she received the “Triple Threat Award.” More recently, in 2012–13 and again in 2013–14, she took home the “Jump Dance Convention/Junior Title.” She had received the ‘Principal’s Award’ from her school for all year long motivation and optimism.
