Steve King is the U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 4th congressional district since 2003. Before entering politics, he founded an earth moving company, King Construction, with just one bulldozer. From 1996 until 2002, he was an Iowa State Senator, helping to abolish the inheritance tax, reform taxes, increase parental rights, and make English the official language of Iowa.
He also chaired the State Government Committee and was vice chairman of the Oversight Budget Committee. He served on the Appropriations, Commerce, and Judiciary Committees.

In 2002, he ran for Iowa’s 5th congressional district. Because he didn’t earn the required 35% of the vote, a nominating convention was conducted. He defeated Council Bluffs City Councilman Paul Shomshor 62%-38% in the general election.

Steve King is a popular politician who promoted traditional family values, pro-life policies, tax reforms, and most crucially, his experience as a small businessman. He was comfortably re-elected for five terms.
Iowa was re-distributed in 2012, and he now represents the Fourth Congressional District.

He’s been in some hot water. His comments about Barack Obama’s Islamic-sounding middle name, Hussein, sparked outrage and he was heavily criticized. He also disparaged America’s migrant population without recognising their contribution to the country’s growth.
