Career of Sungha Jung
When Sungha Jung was in primary school, he developed a liking for the guitar. Jung Woo-father Chang’s was an amateur guitarist, which drew the young child to the instrument despite his inability to wield one at the time. His gentle fingertips were hurting from the strings. Sungha’s father then taught him fingerstyle guitar, which involves plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, and Sungha nailed it. Hata Shuji, a Japanese jazz guitarist, taught him professionally later. He is now studying and practicing drums.
Sangha’s debut album, ‘Perfect Blue,’ was published on June 17, 2010, when he was just 14 years old. His second and third albums, ‘Irony’ and ‘Paint It Acoustic,’ were released in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Ulli Bogershausen, a German guitarist, served as a mentor and motivation for all three recordings.
His fourth album, ‘Monologue,’ was published on April 28, 2014, and it featured almost entirely his own works. Jung was able to produce this record entirely on his own. The following year, Jung released his fifth solo album, ‘Two of Me,’ which was entirely composed by him. In 2016, he published his sixth album, ‘L’Atelier,’ which featured nine original pieces and one original arrangement.
On May 12, 2017, his latest album, ‘Mixtape,’ was published. Jung had posted a teaser of the album on YouTube with an introductory note, describing it as a full cover album consisting of ten old tracks spanning from Pop to Jazz that he reconstructed on acoustic guitar. In addition to these, he has performed live on stage countless times. Many of his works are popular on his YouTube channel, ‘jwcfree’ (named after his father, Jung Woo-Chang), and receive millions of views each day.
His Personal Experiences
Sungha was born on September 2, 1996, in Chenongju, the capital of the Northern Province of South Korea, to a middle-class family. His parents, Jung Woo-Chang and Park Eun Joo, his younger sister, Sooha, and his dog, Coco, make up his family. He was home-schooled since he was too preoccupied with music to finish his schooling.
