Trisha began singing when she was in elementary school. She took part in musicals, chorus groups, and talent shows. She was interested in accounting as a teenager, but after graduating, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years at Luke AFB.

Later, to further her singing career, she enrolled in Young Harris College. She graduated with an associate’s degree and went on to join the Phi Theta Kappa honor organization. She then enrolled in the University of Georgia, but was quickly dissatisfied with the school’s huge campus and dropped out.

‘MTM Records’ offered her an internship, and she later became a full-time employee there. She sang backup vocals for various new singers, including Garth Brooks in 1989, and made many demo tapes. He eventually became a good friend of hers. Garth Fundis, with whom she began working, was introduced to her through him.
