Patricia Lynn “Trisha” Yearwood was born in Monticello, Georgia, on September 19, 1964, to banker Jack Howard Yearwood and educator Gwendolyn Yearwood. She was interested in accounting as a teenager, but after graduating, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years at Luke AFB.
