Childhood and Adolescence

Cameron Jibril Thomaz, better known as Wiz Khalifa, was born on September 8, 1987, in Minot, North Dakota, United States. His parents were both in the military in the United States. During his early life, he had to relocate frequently due to the nature of his parents’ employment. Before arriving in Pittsburgh, he resided in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan. When he was three years old, his parents divorced.

Taylor Allerdice High School in Pittsburgh was his alma mater. He was drawn to music at a young age, and at the age of nine, he began writing his own songs.

He started writing his own lyrics and performing them. This drew the attention of the people, and he grew in popularity in Pittsburgh as a result.

Later, he produced his debut mix tape, “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania,” which established him a household name in Pittsburgh and around the country.
