Yeon Woo-jin was born Kim Bong-hoe in Gangneung, Gangwon-Do, South Korea, on July 5, 1984. He spent his early years in Gangneung with his parents.
He went to Sejong University in South Korea to study Civil and Environmental Engineering after high school.
