American R&B vocalist, songwriter, and musician Carisa Zhavia Ward. She is better known by her mononym Zhavia. A native of California, Zhavia harbored musical aspirations since she was a child. In October 2017, executives from Fox Broadcasting Company reached out to Barsoe with the offer to conduct auditions for some of his vocalists for their new music reality competition series, ‘The Four: Battle for Stardom’. They informed him that the concept of ‘The Four’ was radically distinct from ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice. While the previous two shows focused on relatively untrained talent, ‘The Four’ was searching for artists who were career-ready upon the conclusion of the show. Barsoe realized during their conversation that Zhavia was the ideal candidate for the program.

She was composing music in the next room at the time. Barsoe invited her to join them, and she successfully auditioned, but she declined to participate in the production. However, they ultimately succeeded in convincing her.
Zhavia made her début on television on the January 4, 2018 episode of the premiere season of ‘The Four’. Not only did she receive affirmative votes from all four judges, but she was also declared the episode’s winner. She was eliminated during the episode of week four but ultimately returned due to audience voting.
