Childhood & Adolescence
Bob Saget was born Benjamin Saget and Rosalyn Saget in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father was a supermarket executive, and his mother was a hospital administrator.
Saget attended Abington Senior High School and desired a career in medicine, but one of his teachers encouraged him to pursue a career in film after observing his creative ability.
He enrolled at Temple University to study film. This is when he wrote ‘Through Adam’s Eyes’. It was a black-and-white film that earned him a Student Academy Award nomination.
After graduating from Temple University, he attended the University of California to study film but did not attend much of it and eventually dropped out.
Career Saget
Saget relocated to Los Angeles and attempted to showcase his comic ability through stand-up routines he obtained in comic clubs. He honed his craft there and made friends with comics such as Dave Coulier.
While he was still battling for something substantial, Saget met Brad Grey, who took on the job of managing his affairs, and he began landing small roles in television and feature films.
Saget was invited to join ‘The Morning Program’ in 1987 to add humor to the show. Mariette Hartley and Rolland Smith co-hosted the show, but their tenure was brief.
