Childhood and Adolescence of Xiumin

Xiumin was born Kim Min-Seok in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on March 26, 1990.
Bao Zi, Lil’ Fattie, Mandoo, and King of Detail are some of his nicknames. One of his buddies gave him the nickname Bao Zi because he enjoys steamed buns and has a round, white face.

At a young age, Xiumin enrolled in a Martial Arts School and began learning Kendo and Taekwondo, eventually attaining a black belt. He is also a wushu and fencing expert, as well as a football fanatic.

He was a student at Catholic Kwandong University, where he took part in a seminar and presented a presentation to Applied Music students.

Xiumin took part in the SM Everysing Contest, which is held every year by SM Entertainment, when she was 18 years old. He came in second place in the competition. Later, he became a trainee at S.M. Entertainment’s Casting System.

A Career of Xiumin

For four years, Xiumin was coached by SM Entertainment. The agency developed EXO, a boy band, and unveiled Xiumin as its seventh member when he completed his training in January 2012.

Xiumin made his debut in the music video for Jin’s song “Gone” by South Korean singer Jin. In the video, he appears alongside actress Kim Yoo-jung. In January 2015, he debuted as a musician with the musical School OZ.

“Music Career Breakin’ Machine”: Xiumin was the lead singer on Exology Chapter 1-The Lost, the band EXO’s debut live album. S.M. Entertainment released it on December 22, 2014.

“Young & Free”: Xiumin worked on this track with Mark, a member of the K-pop duo NCT. On July 7, 2017, it was released by S.M. Entertainment and distributed by Genie Music via their digital music project SM Station.

You Are the One is a song from the online drama “Falling for Challenge.” In the video, Xiumin appears alongside actress Kim So-eun. With over 24 million views, the web drama became the most watched web drama in 2015.

For You: This song is from Moon Lovers-Scarlet Heart Ryeo, a South Korean television series. Along with Baekhyun and Chen, Xiumin was featured on the soundtrack. It aired on SBS from August 29 to November 1, 2016.
Call You Bae: In February of 2016, Xiumin partnered with Jimin, a member of the band AOA, and released the music. He also appeared in the song’s music video.

Career as an actor

Xiumin made his silver screen debut with this 2015 picture, Seondal – The Man Who Sells the River. The film’s plot is based on an ancient novel about a con man who nearly sold a river! Gyeon is the role performed by Xiumin, who played the conman’s assistant. The audience enjoyed this comedic film, and Xiumin’s acting abilities were recognized as a result.

EXO Next Door: Xiumin debuted on the web with a brief appearance in EXO Next Door. From April 9 to May 28, 2015, it broadcast on Naver TV Cast. With 50 million views, Exo Next Door became an instant hit.

Falling for Challenge: Xiumin’s next online drama, “Falling for Challenge,” premiered in 2015. He played the lead opposite actress Kim So-eun this time. The story revolves around the unspoken love of Na Do-jeon, a bright but bashful young man. With over 20,000 views, the web drama was a big success.

Korea From Above: Xiumin collaborated with South Korean singer Suho to narrate and host the travel documentary “Korea From Above.” They both gave tours of Korea and its many lovely tourist attractions. In 2017, the documentary was broadcast on Naver TV and Naver Web. The show lasted one month.

Travel Without a Manager is Xiumin’s second web variety show in which he appears alongside Chen. Xiumin only hosted for eight episodes of the show, which aired on Cockat TV. SM Entertainment and Korean Tourism collaborated on the show.

It’s Dangerous Beyond the Blankets: Xiumin participated in this reality show in which five celebrities were forced to stay at home and do nothing. On August 27, 2017, it premiered on MBC.

School OZ: This play, which combines a movie and a live performance, was created by SM Entertainment. This combo is referred to as holographic musical, and it is the world’s first of its kind. Xiumin played Aquila in this 110-minute musical that was launched in 2015. Original songs were performed by the SM Entertainment artists for the production.
