George Julian Cohen, best known by his stage name George Coe, was an American actor and voice actor. Throughout his distinguished career, he was active in television, film, and theater. In the American adult animated sitcom ‘Archer,’ he provided the voice of the renowned character Woodhouse. George Coe’s Career

George Coe began his career in the theater. Prior to entering the lucrative television and film industries, he established his reputation on Broadway. Coe co-starred with Angela Lansbury in the production of “Mame”; he subsequently appeared in “On the Twentieth Century” as “Owen O’Malley” and “Company” as “David.”

He subsequently entered the television industry and became a member of the ‘Not Ready For Prime Time Players’ group, which consists of the 150 cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live’. Coe was only credited as a cast member for the pilot episode, despite having appeared in numerous other episodes without credit.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, during his tenure with ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Coe also appeared in several award-winning short films. He appeared in the 1968 critically acclaimed short film “De Düva: The Dove,” a satirical parody of the films of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. In the short film, he was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as “Viktor.” Again, he appeared in the critically acclaimed short film Kramer vs. Kramer. (1979).

It was based on the same-titled American family courtroom drama film, which tells the tale of a couple’s divorce and the drama surrounding the affair. Coe portrayed Dustin Hoffman’s character from the original film. The short film won an Academy Award, and Coe’s stellar performance was praised.

He then portrayed Brigadier General Scott Watson in the American action-adventure thriller Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins. In 1991, Coe appeared as a guest star in the 15th episode of the fourth season of the American science fiction television series “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

Coe appeared in several prominent television series in the late 1980s and early 1990s, albeit in small or guest roles. His well-known works include ‘Simon & Simon,’ ‘L.A. Law,’ ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin,’ ‘Max Headroom,’ ‘Thirtysomething,’ ‘Law & Order,’ ‘The Cosby Mysteries,’ and ‘New York Undercover. In the next decades, he appeared in notable roles in television series like ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Judging Amy’, ‘Numb3rs’, ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, and ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’.

In 2009, Coe was asked to provide the voice of ‘Woodhouse’ on the American animated adult sitcom ‘Archer’. The audience adored the distinctive manner in which he delivered his dialogue, which helped the character gain immense popularity. Coe has performed as a voice actor for a number of popular video games.
