Career of Brianna Burns

Since she was a young kid, Lil’ Bri has been drawn to music and performance. She began rapping when she was ten years old and has since written all of her own lyrics, made all of her own music, and created all of her own dance routines. When she was 12 years old, she met her manager Reginald Hatter and joined his non-profit organization, Workshop Houston, which seeks to give emerging talents in the neighborhood access to creative, technical, and educational means to better themselves. They have four resource studios: The Style Shop (fashion/graphic design), The Scholar Shop (academic enrichment), The Dance Shop (dance/performing arts), and The Beat Shop (music creation).

Lil’ Bri entered Workshop Houston from a place of shyness and introversion. The group was crucial in her growth as an artist, in helping her find her voice, and in providing her with the means by which she could express herself. She and Hatter were given a White House invitation in 2014, and there Michelle Obama gave them the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Prize.

Lil’ Bri and four other aspiring singers were chosen to compete in season four of Lifetime’s “The Rap Game” in 2017. Jordan Young, Brazil Barber (RapUnzel), Lyric Thomas (Ricci Bitti), and Jeremiah were the other singers of season four (Street Bud). Lil’ Bri put in excellent work the entire season, but she was not chosen as the champion. The youngest member of the ensemble, Street Bud of Atlanta, Georgia, received that honor.

Lil Bri has released music since 2015. In that year, she put out two songs, “Pachino” and “Footprints.” She returned in 2017 with the singles “Right Here” and “Be Okay” following a year-long break.
