James Travis Tritt is an American country singer and songwriter who is better known by his stage name, Travis Tritt. He has put out 12 country albums so far, and most of his hits and albums were put out by Warner Bros. Warner Bros. saw Tritt’s talent and sent his demo to their LA office. The LA office then asked their Nashville office to sign him. The Recording Industry Association of America has given platinum or higher ratings to seven of his albums, with “It’s All About to Change (1991)” getting the highest rating of triple platinum. He’s also been on the Hot Country Songs chart more than 40 times and won two Grammys, both for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. He has also won four Country Music Association awards and has been a part of the Grand Ole Opry. Tritt is different from other country singers in the way he presents himself. He has never been a traditional country singer and has never worn a cowboy hat. Instead, he puts on rock concerts. He not only sings, but he has also acted in movies and shows for TV. He owns a company called Post Oak that puts out music.

Early years and childhood

Tritt was born to James and Gwen Tritt on February 9, 1963, in Georgia. When he was young, he sang in a church choir with other kids. When he got a guitar at age 8, he taught himself how to play it.

Tritt started writing his own songs when he was a teenager. He wanted to be a country singer like his heroes Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Hank Williams Jr. During high school, he went to Sprayberry.
Tritt worked in places like a furniture store, a grocery store, and an air conditioning company as he grew up. He also played music with a small band and at clubs in the area.

He started making demos with the help of Warner Bros. Records. They made a demo called “Proud of the Country” and sent it to Warner Bros. in LA. In 1987, they hired him.

Travis Tritt’s Career

Tritt’s first album, called “Country Club,” came out in 1990. The title track made it into the Top 10 on the country charts, and other singles like “Help Me Hold On” and “I’m Going to Be Somebody” also did very well.

Ken Kragen became Tritt’s manager, and because Kragen knew a lot of people in the Nashville music scene, it helped Tritt’s career. It’s All About to Change was released in 1991 and quickly became the best-selling album.

“T-R-O-U-B-L-E” was his second album to be certified double-platinum. It came out in 1992. It reached the top of the Billboard charts with songs like “Lord Have Mercy on the Working Man” and “Can I Trust You with My Heart.”
He didn’t have the same success with albums like “Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof” (1994), “The Restless Kind” (1996), “No More Looking Over My Shoulder” (1998), etc., for the rest of the 1990s. The albums were just okay.

Tritt left Warner Bros. and joined Columbia Records. In 2000, he put out the album “Down the Road, I Go.” It’s single “Best of Intentions” was his fifth and last Billboard number one.

Tritt moved to Category 5 Records after putting out “Strong Enough” (2002) and “My Honky Tonk History” (2004) on Columbia Records. He did this because he and Columbia had different ideas about how to make music. In 2010, he put out an album called “The Storm,” which had R&B, soul, and blues sounds.
