On July 20, 1974, Tosca was born in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa. She is the only daughter and youngest child of Errol and Maye Musk (formerly Haldeman). Her mother has worked as a model and dietician, while her father has had positions as an electromechanical engineer, pilot, and sailor. Tosca’s parents separated when she was about five years old, in 1979. She was the only one of the siblings to continue living with their mother over time. Two years after their parents’ divorce, Elon moved out of their mother’s house to live with their father, and Kimbal followed Elon four years later.
